After 18 months of closure for the Chabot Dam seismic retrofit, Chabot Park is finally reopening to the public. The EBMUD Board of Directors approved a new 20-year lease agreement for a 9.2-acre portion of Chabot Park, which has been utilized by the City since 1950 for recreational activities and summer children’s camp programs.
No City maintenance has occurred since June 2016, when the park closed and due to weather/muddy conditions, not all amenities will be functional when the park re-opens (such as the disc golf course and horseshoe pits). The City will continue to actively work at the park to get everything up and running as soon as possible.
The park, a favorite among residents, will open Friday Feb. 9th at 9 am. The park will be open from 7 am to 7 pm until April when the hours will be extended for the summer.
